I really enjoyed the piece of music we listened to on Wednesday to give us an introduction to Sub-Saharan African music, so I decided to look up the artist, Siam Matuzungidi and found a recording from the same radio show but a different piece, called Ko Yimbe Ko. There are three performers, one plays different types of drums, one sings and plays the guitar and some sort of mallet percussion, and the other sings and plays a small shaker. This piece emulates a similar calm feeling compared to the piece we listened to in class, but it is a little bit busier and has more of a bright tempo.
