This example is Hindustani Classical music that was actually influenced by the Carnatic Thillana style. In this example, there are two vocalists, one male and one female. They’re doing a duet, while the rest of the people are playing instruments. The instruments being used include a tabla and violin. We discussed the use of violins in South India to make music, but this example of Hindustani music has them as well. I’m guessing the reason behind this is because this song takes inspiration from South India. The song starts off with just the instruments being played, and then the vocals come in. There is a fairly steady beat and melody throughout the whole song. The pitches of their voices go up and down, but they do it in a consistent manner. I chose this example because it is upbeat and grabbed my attention when I was listening to different songs. I also found it interesting that this song took inspiration from both North and South India to create this beautiful piece of music.
