Kalinga Narthana Tillana (Start at 1:20): https://youtu.be/7wyfwel3aOM

Kalinga Narthana Tillana is a Carnatic piece of music from South Asia composed by Oothukkadu Venkata Subbaiyer (1700 – 1765).  I found this piece on YouTube.  In this rendition the vocalist is a famous Carnatic singer named Aruna Sairam.  The purpose of this song is for dancing, specifically encapsulating the dance of Lord Krishna.  This piece is explained as “best suited for dance” since it is a Carnatic thillana; meaning that it is rhythmic.  As stated before the piece includes vocals, but it also includes instruments such as: violin, mridangan, ghatam, tabla, flute, and sitar.

I chose this piece because I loved the upbeat dance type rhythm and how the vocals and violin were playing the melody together throughout the piece.
