This song features two African artists, one called DJ Maphorisa and Tyler ICU. I found this song after looking up popular DJ’s in South Africa as that is some of my favourite music, and DJ Maphorisa showed up a lot so I listened to some of his songs and liked this one best. This song has many “Western” traits and even the music video has many characteristics we are more accustomed to. But like other songs I have found these artists seem to blend western style music and entertainment with traits that come from their homelands. They do this by speaking their native language(which unfortunately I cannot identify) and by the sounds of it incorporate some instruments such as some sort of shaker and drums very quietly in the back. Along choosing this song because it speaks to a familiar genre of mine, I like how the music video showcases parts of South Africa that us as westerners don’t necessarily think of at first; showing the nightlife and cities versus the wildlife and landscape we tend to think of right away.
