The song I have selected for Chapter 11 on the Caribbean is “Is This Love” by Bob Marley. Bob Marley is arguably the most well known musician to come out of Jamaica and helped contribute to the commercial success that the reggae style of music has gained and maintained. This song keeps the same classic structure as most other reggae music from Jamaica. It has a “laid back” nature and gives off positive energy when listening. The instrumental structure is repetitive and the vocals are the main voice while the instrumental track is in the background. This song also uses rock/pop instruments to create the addictive yet soothing beat, which is common in the reggae genre.
