I chose this song because of the connection the performers had with it. ‘He Akua Hemolele,’ the name of the song, translates to ‘God is holy.’ Based on the performers, you can tell they truly relate to the song. I also like this song because, as someone who is religious, I can relate to it. I really enjoy how different religions express themselves through music. It can be a hymn like this one, a pop song, or a chant—there are so many different ways religion can be interpreted through music, and am excited to see how religions around the world interupt music.
