The song “Spring Sea” is the first song in this recording of a traditional Japanese instrumental concert. This song makes use of two instruments, the koto and the shakuhachi. There are two shakuhachi players and six koto players. One of the kotos has a lower range than the rest, but looks almost identical to the other kotos. This koto has a simpler part, while the other kotos and shakuhachis play the melody. The song starts at a slow tempo, but it speeds up when the rest of the players join in. There are tempo changes throughout the song, and several solos. I like this song because of the instrumentation and traditional style.
