I chose originally a song by el far3i that was released today (march 2022) it is a piece that shows the artistry of Arabic artists and the beauty that are able to show with their videos. As I looked into this artist I realized that this beautiful poetry-like music is not the only thing El Far3i has done. He was also in a Shamstep, which is a form of electric dance music, band and was best known for his rapping. These are three genres that I never expected to see from the middle-east before beginning this class. In addition, he is not a super small artist. He is alternative so he does not have as many subscribers as a mainstream artist. In comparison, the mainstream artist Nancy Ajram has over 6 million subscribers while El Far3i has 168k. This reflects such comparisons like the Jonas Brothers, a popular mainstream artist. who have over 5 million subscribers, and The Paper Kites, a popular indie folk band, who has over 200k subscribers. This artist, El Far3i, shows the versatility of Arab artists as well as similarities between the Arab and United States music industry.
