“E Pili Mai” by Keali’i Reichel is a Hawaiian love song about confessing your love for someone. This song is traditionally played at weddings and Luau’s. This song was released in 2003 to an album called Ke’alaokamile. The song begins with a calming string melody which sets the tone for this piece. When the male voice enters it has a very calming tone with a higher range. About a minute in, during the chorus of the song, there is a very slight and quiet harmony that adds some depth to the song and a peacefulness. There is also some English sung in this song along with the Hawaiian which I enjoy to help understand the meaning. All around I enjoy the calm intimate feeling of this song and that is a big reason I chose it. The chords played by the ukulele and guitar along with the message of the song are very sweet and convey the feeling of love. As I read the comments under the song a lot of people commented about how they remember dancing with their friends and families to this song at weddings and social gatherings which I thought was very sweet and swayed me into picking this song.
