I chose the song “Day ‘N’ Nite” by Kid Cudi. I chose this song because it has been one of my favorite songs since elementary school. It also shows that rap can have clean lyrics that can be shown in a classroom setting. Kid Cudi was inspired by the death of his uncle. Kid Cudi and his uncle’s relationship ended badly, and Kid Cudi wanted to apologize but could not in time. He is also dealing with psychological suffering, and the song shows how he deals with it.
The song features one rapper, named Kid Cudi. The instruments used are a keyboard and a sequencer most likely indicating that this song was created in a studio without traditional instruments. The “womp womp” noise makes this song a masterpiece. The keyboard and sequencer make up the noises that sound like clapping, beeping, as well as traditional keyboard noises. This song would be considered rap.
