The song I’ve chosen is called “Chiang Khwang Daen Ngam,” sung by K. Wises and written by S. Bualaphan. This song holds deep cultural significance, as it was composed during a period of historical importance in Southeast Asia. From what I can hear, apart from the singing, there are three other distinct instruments being played. One is a type of drum, another is a type of plucked instrument, and another is most likely a saxophone. While looking at what these other two instruments could be, I found that they are most likely the Klong Yao (drum sound) and the Phin (plucked sound). The historical context of the song is that it is composed by two former soldiers of Captain Konglae during the Cold War era, reflecting the feelings during that time in Southeast Asia. I chose this song because of the interesting backstories of the individuals who lived during this time.
