This piece was composed by Cinuçen Tanrıkorur and performed by Simon Shaheen and Qantara. I found this video on youtube while looking through a middle eastern playlist. This song contains two main instruments: the oud and the ney flute. The exciting thing about this song that made me choose this example is how both instruments play together and give a different feeling when listening. The song gives a feeling like it could be sad/sorrowful because of how slow the song can be at parts and the lower tone of notes played. The song’s main melody is repeated many times throughout and gets stuck in the listener’s head. When I compared this to other middle eastern music, I think this song sounds cleaner and unique solely because it is only two instruments and is not as busy.
