The song I selected is from Thailand. Tao Phusilp is the artist, and Jirawat Panpoom arranged it. The purpose of this song is to express his feelings toward Hausima, which I believe is an ethnic group of that region. He loves the group and cannot live without them. One of the lyrics I found toward the song’s end is, ‘I starve to death. I can’t live without you. I tremble flowers.
Let’s grow together.’ There are many traditional instruments played in the song. I hear goblet and frame drums, a mouth organ, and a sanxian chordophone as the main instruments. The reason why I chose this song is that the mouth organ caught my attention from the beginning. As he sings the song, the mouth organ mimics the tone and lyrics he sings. As a result, the song runs smoothly and beautifully as if I were rowing down Thailand’s waterways.
