I chose to do this example for my song share because of the unique technique of the floating dancers. They glide across the floor, without their dresses moving, and it gives the impression that they are “floating” across the stage. I find it interesting that each of the dancers is holding some kind of plant in their hands, along with a blue handkerchief. They use those objects within the song to accompany their dancing, and often use the objects to interact with the other dancers. Their dancing overall is very choreographed and rigid. It looks as if there is no room for mistakes within this dance. Aside from the dance, there is some music accompanying the dancers. It’s very light and airy, and I would describe it as being similar in tone to the “Balalaika” that is also from Russia, that was one of the site examples in class.
