Although not a song explicitly written by someone in Southeast Asia, this song from Sonic Unleashed has been one of my favorite video game songs of all time. The place in the game this song plays is in the village of Adabat, which is heavily inspired by Indonesia, Thailand, and Cambodia. Instead of mostly synthetic instruments like in the other villages of the game, the music in Adabat was comprised entirely by using a Gamelan, specifically a Javanese and Balinese Gamelan. This song plays during the daytime of Adabat, and there’s a separate song for its nighttime stage.
