This band has a special place in my heart as I have seen them in concert and heard first hand what the music can do to a person and how they interact with the audience. They are a Mongolian rock band that uses instruments and throat singing that are indigenous to Mongolia. The “Hu”, their band name, translates to human being. They create a unique approach blend with their instruments. We hear the Morin Khuur which is a horse head fiddle like instrument. We also hear a Tovshuur which is a Mongolian guitar along with a jaw harp that is called a Tumur Khuur. The throat singing along with this gives a great example of contemporary sounds that create this unique style of rock music that in our culture we do not see all the time. When I saw this band in concert, I felt very intrigued with how there songs are telling a story within the rock, LOUD elements. They keep a steady rhythm and beat which we do not always see in East Asian culture through music. Please listen to this as it is so inspiring and creative.
