This song has many traditional elements of Chinese culture. At the beginning of this song, there is a traditional-sounding string instrument. It uses bending of notes which is often found in Chinese music. This instrument could be or is similar to a Pipa or Erhn. In addition, there is a flute that isn’t played throughout the whole piece but comes in to complement the string instrument. On top of the instrument, there is a more untraditional element. The woman vocalist. Vocalists are not often seen but the addition of the woman’s voice creates this angelic and calming melody that conveys beauty. This song is used to communicate the beauty of a sacred lake in China.

I chose this song because I love calming music and this song brought me so much relaxation. I also love how well the instruments complement the vocalist in the song. In addition, I love it when music can convey a message even when I am unable to understand the language because it shows how music can communicate across different cultures.
