I chose the song I Know by Bob Marley, as most of us have either listened to his music, or have heard of him himself. In addition there is a movie coming about about Bob Marley on his life story and his musical background! Bob Marley wrote most of his songs to heal Jamaica’s wounds. Jamaica was always a racial and politically strong island, where most citizens did not have much in common, until they all found a love for music.

The music played in the Caribbean plays an important role in emotion, ideology, excitement, nationalism, and strength. In particular Jamaica, where Bob Marley was born and raised, had many hardships. Music was always relevant, yet with no overall message behind it. Many community members found the love for music where they could share it with others. This grew an overwhelming love factore bringing many people together to find common interests, where music was used for festivals, rituals, religious beliefs, and even self worth!
