The instrumentation of this instrumental raga is as follows: mridangam, tambura, ghatam, and the saraswati veena. This saraswati veena has been slightly electrified allowing it to produce what would be considered, a western eclectic guitar quality. This instrument was also named after the Hindu goddess of arts and learning. This directly correlates to the carnatic labelization of the piece. The artist of this piece is known to have an ominous quality to their music. It is often inspired by Murugan, the god of war, and Shiva the destroyer.
I personally really enjoyed listening to and watching this performance. I was fascinated by the cultural significance. I was further intrigued the second time I watched it after reading a brief history of the performers and the piece.
