Sunset Over the Ganges was written by the band Monsoon, a British Indian trio consisting of Sheila Chandra, Steve Coe, and  Martin Smith. You can hear the distinct sound of the Tabla and Sarod throughout the piece. This song comes out of Monsoon’s Album Third Eye that released in 1983, which is a year after the band had split up. There are several versions of this album due to multiple rereleases of it. I found this while digging for 80’s South Asian pieces, this was #2 according to rateyourmusic.com, and it is paired with Ever So Lonely. This song reminded me of the Raga listening examples from class, as the opening of the piece is just the piano with a lack of time/metered feel, where it then adds the Tabla and the the Sarod (or what seems to be).
