I chose this song because I was looking for more dance style music in the Smithsonian Folkways site. I came across this album and listened to many of the songs, and El Tango Matigua stood out to me. It has male and female vocals, along with a rhythmic guitar, along with some drums and shakers driving the song forward. There are more dramatic points where there is silence for a few beats, which is a shift from the constant texture that makes up most of the song. In listening to the dramatic pauses, I could imagine dances moving along with the song. There are also sections where there is a speaking/storytelling break in the music, which I found intriguing. It follows a repetitive form as well, having that vamp feel. I enjoyed finding this song, and it was very upbeat and driving which caught my ear.
