Born in Puerto Rico, Luis Miguel is a world renown, multi-genre, Latin American singer and artist. He is known for his pop, mariachi, bolero, ballads, and many other genres of songs, and is one of the best-selling Latin music artists of all time. All of his music is in the Spanish language, including the song share I have picked, “Sabes Una Cosa.” 

I picked this song because it was shown to me by my brother, who really enjoys listening to Latin American, specifically Mexican music recommended by his friends. The chord progression and melody is beautiful, and I really enjoy Miguel’s voice. Elements of mariachi music can be heard in this recording, most notably a prominent trumpet melody and an underlying guitar part. Other instruments that can be heard in this recording include lush string melodies, a bass line (potentially played by a guitarron, I’m not sure), shakers, and other Latin percussion instruments.
