I chose to share this piece because I really enjoyed its focus on melody. There is a female falsetto in the start that really hooked me, along with the mbira. I really enjoy how each of the elements blend together for a full sounding composition. There is multiple percussion instruments like the shakers and different drums that both propel a tempo and polyrhythms that make the song more interesting as it goes. There is also a male voice that leads these different verses that’s blended with these beautiful background harmonies. Being able to see the performers’ enthusiasm for the song really makes it entrancing to watch. More than an earworm the song feels passionate and leaves audiences with an optimistic feeling. The major key of the song helps propel that upbeat vibe. Overall I the song stuck with me because of all of these qualities which differ it from typical rock music in a minor pentatonic key.
