Amassakoul ‘n’ Ténéré” by Tinariwen is a song of the lives of the Tuareg nomads in the Sahara. It speaks about their hardships-most specifically, the feelings of exile, of cultures struggling to survive. The song does share, though, the beauty of their connection with the desert and the strong spirit of the Tuareg people. I like in this song the way it reflects freedom and, simultaneously, some kind of longing for home. The music is mighty, including traditional rhythms and a deep connection with the desert.
