I knew when I got to this section that I wanted to do something a little different. I have a Polish friend here at SNC, and I wanted to find some way to incorporate their background into these submissions. Since we’ve made it to Europe, this now allows me to finally do so. When I requested a song, they immediately sent me the song “To Nie Ja”, or “It Wasn’t Me” in English, performed by Edyta Górniak. This piece was first performed at 2004’s Eurovision contest, and it also happens to be the Poland’s debut in Eurovision. Meaning that this song has quite a bit of reputation behind it, especially because it reached 2nd place overall in the competition. The song itself has a very contemporary pop feeling, so it’s easy to understand why this song was so popular. It also has an ethereal, uplifting tone, almost like as if the singer is attempting to lull the listener to sleep.
