The song I chose was “Ya Tal3een” by Dana Salah. I found this song on Spotify and was immediately captivated by the sound. The beginning starts with alluring vocals. The tone and timbre of the vocals keep you listening and as the song progresses, the song features what sounds like drums and a piano. The artist is a Jordanian-Palestinian singer who originates from Amman, Jordyn. The song falls into the Arabic genre of music. The song itself is based on the coded Palestinian folk song which is titled “Ya Taali’een ‘ala el-Jabal”. I love how soft the beginning of the song is and the strength that multiple vocalists can use to bring such meaning to a piece. The song uses many dynamics within the piece. It is soft when it is solely the vocalists and/or piano, but as the strength of the vocalists builds, so do the background instrumentals of vocals and rhythm.
