The song that I chose was Am Yisrael Chai performed by Eyal Golan. The phrase Am Yisrael Chai was made popular when Shlomo Carlebach produced his own song Am Yisrael Chai in 1965. The phrase means “The People/Nation of Israel Live” and has been a solidarity phrase throughout many wars, including the one that started on October 7th when Israel was attacked. This song’s purpose is a call for unity, as well as faith in God and the eternal nation of Israel. This song has a hopeful message which is seen in the upbeat chorus of this song. I chose this song because it has been one of my favourite songs since I heard it a couple months ago and it makes me feel connected to my 15 million brothers and sisters across the world.
