Kiska is a tune by Tatsuro Yamashita who is a famous Japanese singer-songwriter and producer. It is found on his instrumental album, Pacific. The genre of this song is considered “city pop,” which Tatsuro Yamashita helped pioneer in Japan in the 70s and 80s, and is a mix of funk, soft rock/pop, R&B, and much more. I chose this song because it reminds me of Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Won’t Do For Love” which is one of my favorites. After further research I found out that Bobby Caldwell had a huge influence on the city pop genre in Japan, which checks out.
