The song that I chose for my Song share assignment is Nam Huê, written by Phong Nguyêñ in 2017. This music is classified as traditional Vietnamese folk music. In this song we do not hear a variety of instruments. There could be a harp that is played however the main instrument that is used is the Dan Tranh. The Dan Tranh is a traditional 16 string instrument, nearly identical to the chinese gu-zheng. You can hear this instrument constantly throughout the piece. In the beginning of the piece the tempo is slow and methodical allowing for a calming feel. Later in the song we hear some strumming of the Dan Tranh making it sound almost like a harp. The piece does pick up a bit in tempo but has a consistent calming feel throughout the entire piece. Compared to some of the other pieces listened to in class this is a slow well throughout performance. This was one of my favorite pieces I have listened to thus far and I highly recommend others listen to it.
