I chose this song because it reminds me of the song Egyptian Reggae by Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers. This song has an incredibly happy sound. It has an obvious upbeat tempo, and it is easy to tap your foot along through the entire song. This song has a consistent beat and a predictable melody, unlike some of the examples in class where it was harder to find the beat until much later in the song’s development.

The song has a consistent volume as well, which makes it easy to listen to and brings a joyful sound to the piece.

Part of this song’s attraction is that it has a repetitive pattern, beat and rhythm which is supported by the drum and flute and makes it possible to follow easily.

It starts off with the stringed instrument and then about a third of the way through the wot, or wooden pan-type flute takes the lead and the end we get the pong lang solo which is a traditional Thai percussion instrument and can be compared to the sound of a xylophone in western music. The range of sounds is interesting and the way the song builds is also engaging for the listener.
