This piece is a poem in the Haitian Creole language that was originally written in a prison and became of popular song in the countrys Creole language and then adaptated for Calypso for Harry Belafonte. In the beginning of the piece it sound more of a choir and then adds the use of bongo drums and other instruments. There is also different levels in the voices which one group sings the lyrics and then alternates to “ahh”. There is female voices and male voices included. This brings a perfect blend to all the groups of singers. We also hear dynamics where they gradually get softer and then louder. The drums do not over power the other voices but, bring a great blend to the piece. At the end of the piece, the drums leave and we are there with just the voices as they end the piece with staccato like “ahh” and then nothing.
