“Hot, Hot, Hot” is a lively Caribbean song by Montserratian artist Arrow. It was released in 1982 and it apparently quickly became a global sensation with its catchy melody and energetic beats, which I can definitely see. The song is also often associated with soca music, which is a genre that originated in Trinidad and Tobago, characterized by a fusion of calypso, funk, and soul. “Hot, Hot, Hot” is a celebration of life, joy, and the vibrant spirit of the Caribbean, which is one of many reasons I enjoy it so much. Doing a little research on it, the upbeat tempo makes it a staple at parties, carnivals, and events throughout the region. I chose “Hot, Hot, Hot” not only because of these reasons but because it’s a cool Caribbean anthem that reflects the region quite well. Now whenever I think of a song from this region, it can remind me of the upbeat nature and theme of this catchy song.
