You Can Get It If You Really Want was released in 1970 by Desmond Dekker a Jamaican artist. The piece is in the genre of reggae as Desmond Dekker is a large reggae songwriter and singer. It opens with a drum back beat with trumpets and a chordophone. Then the vocals come in repeating the title “You Can Get It If You Really Want” and then continuing with lyrics that are about perseverance and trying your hardest and if you try as hard as you can you will more than likely succeed. This song hit the UK top charts in the 1970s and was featured in a few British motion pictures. The piece overall is very uplifting and very relaxing sounding with very few temp changes. There are moments where the backgrounds drop off and he says a lyric in almost a recitative.
