The song I chose comes from Senegal which is in West Africa. The song is called Fatou Yo and sung by Touré Kunda. Fatou Yo is a folk children’s song. It has a lot of repetition and in English the lyrics are about a child growing up. The song starts out with drums and I think a keyboard like instrument or a guitar. It has a moderate pace throughout without any changes in tempo and has an upbeat tone to it. I chose this song because I remember it from a CD I had when I was a toddler and this was one of the only songs that would get me to go to sleep.
