This song is called “Kao Nok” by Molam Lao. Molam Lao is a group of musicians and Lam singers, originally from Laos. They have done concerts and have been apart of many international festivals throughout Europe. The music they make is “Lam”, meaning that it is a poetic style of music and tells a story through instrumentals. The instrument present is a xylophone.

I chose this piece because I like how there is only one instrument that is playing throughout the entire song. It is not very common for music to have one instrument that carries the entire piece. Although there is only one voice, I feel that the song still has everything it needs to get its message across. This song still has as much purpose, as a song that has 15 instruments. This shows that instrumental music doesn’t need to have 8 instruments for it to be music, but rather music can have as little as one instrument and still be as powerful as any other song.
