Mohe Rang Do Laal is a song composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Pandit Birju Maharaj. This piece was created for the 2015 Bollywood film, Bajirao Mastani. The composer, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is an Indian filmmaker and song composer. His song features many instruments such as a violin sounding instrument used as the opening sound. One can also identity the tambourine like shaking noise that follows the intro. Next comes the drum or stick hitting rhythm that picks the song’s beat up. Following that, the plucking vibrating sound coming from what seems to be a sitar. All these sounds layer upon one another to bring out the voice that begins to sing. It seems to a song for women to dance to as in the music video, a woman is dancing before what appears to be a ruler. I was captured by the smooth and flowing music and the unique dance being performed and decided to choose this song. The song draws me in, leaving me to attempt to decipher the story it wants to tell.
