I chose this song because even if you don’t like country, this song seems to its way into your head. It is a country song with a slight bluegrass feel and features instruments such as the double bass, banjo, steel guitar, and acoustic guitar. John Denver was born in New Mexico however his family tended to move around a lot as his father was in the military. He found it hard to find a true place to call home but later settled in Colorado. This song reflects his desire to find a place that felt truly like home to him while also showcasing the beauty that is the United States. I grew up listening to this song and my dad used to sing this to me as a lullaby so it has always had a special place in my heart.
