It’s All Over Now Baby Blue – Joan Baez

For my final song share I wanted to do the song “It’s All Over Now Baby Blue” by American folk singer Joan Baez which she sang in 1965.  This is one of my all time favorite songs because I think it is so beautifully done and simple yet powerful.  “It’s All Over Now Baby Blue” is actually a cover, the original song being written and sung by Bob Dylan in 1965 for his album Bringing It All Back Home.  The song has been covered many times by famous artists including, the Grateful Dead, the Animals, Marianne Faithfull, and Falco, but my favorite version is definitely Baez’s.  Her version only includes guitars and her vocals alone.  Her voice in the song is very high and soft which makes it an emotional, easy listen.  I feel like it is not often that I hear songs without any percussion at all which makes this song unique to me.  Though she did not write them, I also love the lyrical pattern of the song and how it flows.
