This song is titled Marimba Beats and is performed by the Hillcrest College Marimba Band. I chose this piece because I really liked listening to the marimba band that Dr. W played in class. These students have obviously practiced this piece and perform it at a really high level. As a former “band kid,” I know the hard work that had to have gone into this band in order to perform at such a level like they were able to accomplish. My favorite parts of this piece was when all the players were playing at the same time and the beauty of the melodic lines coming from each player just clicked made me want to smile while listening! I also really like how happy each of the band members looks when performing because the joy on their faces can be felt in the music.
