The song that I chose is a song from youtube and it’s called Jalikunda African drums. This song is completely instrumental and just entirely played with the drums. They play the drums very fast and it’s a group of 4 men and while playing they are watching one another to make sure they’re all playing their parts and giving their energy out the audience. The song is like a call and response but it is also repetitive sometimes throughout, but they’re also times where they add more spontaneous parts to the song.  These drums are originated from Senegal, very similar to the another popular drum Djembes. I learned that it can be used for brides and grooms looking for a vibrant performance for their wedding reception, and this video is a great example of  how entertaining and uplifting theses drums and the performers playing them can be. I’ve grown up listening to music kinda like this because of my family and it’s interesting now how I can analyze and look at a song like this and talk about it more in depth. It was a really enjoyable piece.
