This is a clip of a traditional Pakistani wedding song. I chose this song because in my mind, the songs traditionally played at weddings are immensely meaningful and I was curious to see how this country celebrated. I have found that intricate dances are commonly performed to these songs. Traditionally performed by women, they wear beautiful, ornate gowns. These gowns have many, many beads and gemstones on them, signifying wealth and the marriage celebration. In the clip, a steady drumming can be heard and I assume they are similar to the dholak. Bright colors and fresh flowers ring in the community spirit while the music gets the whole party involved. Although the clip is only 30 seconds, any listener would be able to tell that the weddings are large, group-involved events, with no shortage of mood-matching music.
