I chose Mundian To Bach Ke by Punjabi MC. I picked this song because I remember when I was younger, this song was on the Nintendo Wii game Just Dance 4, and the singing and instruments were so fun to dance to. When I think of South Asian Music, specifically Indian Music, my brain immediately thinks of this song. The song lyrics translate to a beautiful woman growing up and how she should be careful of the boys or to “Mundian to Bach Ke” and avoid boys at all costs because they cause trouble.

The song features a male voice singing in Hindi. It kind of sounds like rap music, and the whole song the soloist will sing a sentence then he repeats it. The song features a string-like instrument that plays throughout the whole song, as well as a sort of membranophone that joins later in the song. The song’s tempo is very fast. Typically music from India has a drone sound in the background, however, this song did not feature any drone sounds, just a repeated string-like instrument.
