I chose the song “Dap Mo Cuoc Tinh” from a YouTube compilation of Vietnamese songs (It is the first song in the compilation). I chose this song because it immediately caught my interest upon listening the first time.

From what I can tell, the song begins with a beat, some type of aerophore, and some type of chordophone. At 0:26 a male singer begins his role in the song. The singer seems to change the pitch of his voice on individual words quite often, similar to many of the examples from South Asia.

Another interesting thing about the piece is the fact that there seems to be a standard drum kit throughout the song. I may be naive, but I would imagine that is not common in music of this genre and location.

Overall, the song was entertaining.
