Tanpura Demonstration – YouTube I chose this short song example for this chapter because it was very interesting to see a close up of how the tanpura was played. I liked that they zoomed in so you could see the certain hand techniques; which I noticed was less of a pluck, and more like he was dragging his hand along the strings. I also liked that it was just the tanpura being played as a solo instrument. This really allows for an easy analysis of the droning tone, and the type of notes that the tanpura can play. This also was very intriguing to me as an example because the way it’s being played is less of the droning base tone, and more of a meditative and calming solo.
