Adèle & Zalem, Didgeridoo Duet – YouTube For this song… you might have to fast forward a tad to get to the music, but once you’re there, you will hear it is a very modern take on playing the didjeridu. If you look closely, you can still see that they are using the circular breathing technique, but with a modern twist of dancing and being expressive while playing, and they made the didjeridu look aesthetically pleasing by giving it a more modern design. In the more traditional clips of a didjeridu we heard in class, it was mainly used as a more of a background or base for the rest of the music, always just one didjeridu, and was normally accompanied by vocals. This clip on the other hand had two didjeridu’s doing a duet and they were doing a piece that gave them the melody. I chose this as my example because I thought it was interesting to see a modern take on such a traditional instrument. It’s always cool to see how some instruments have evolved over time and I think this video is a great example of that.
