During Chapter 10, I learned more about instruments similar and like the Kalimba for the first time. For my song share I decided to research this instrument more and what musically typically played on it sounded like. The song “After Glow”, is played on a likembe this instrument is similar in nature but larger and played with the fingers rather than the thumbs. It has been referred to as an “African finger pianos”. The song has a very simple and calming feel. However, its tonality reminds me of a mystical aura. The artist has explained that the album this if from was inspired by African, Asian and Jazz Influences.
